What is a live augmented reality T-shirt activation?
Live AR T-Shirt Printing & Mobile AR Campaigns
A live augmented reality T-shirt activation is a brand experience where guests watch a garment screen printed on site, then scan the finished artwork with a phone camera to unlock an AR experience layered over the shirt itself. The printed design is the AR trigger. There is no app to download — the experience opens in the mobile browser through WebAR on both iOS and Android.
That combination is what separates this from ordinary event merch and ordinary augmented reality marketing. A giveaway shirt is a cost line. An AR T-shirt is a media channel that walks out of the venue on someone's body and keeps generating scans for months, in rooms your brand was never going to buy media in.
How a mobile AR campaign runs
We arrive with the presses, ink, garments, and the AR build already field-tested. Guests choose a design, watch it printed live — 100 to 250 pieces per hour depending on program tier — and opt in at the print queue while they wait. That queue is where the first-party data is captured: consented record, timestamp, location, and activation ID. Then they scan the shirt and the augmented reality experience plays.
On truck-based programs the press line lives inside a wrapped glass box truck, step van, or our 33-foot mobile billboard bus, so the activation is fully self-contained — onboard power, onboard cellular connectivity, and no dependence on congested venue Wi-Fi, which is the single most common reason event AR fails. The vehicle carries its own AR trigger panel and works as mobile out-of-home media between stops.
Where we operate
The Silk Screen Machine produces live event screen printing and augmented reality brand activations from hub markets in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Nashville, and Chicago, with nationwide touring for multi-market experiential campaigns. We have run these programs for Fortune 500 brands, festival sponsors, product launches, conference booths, retail openings, and recruiting drives.
What the brand actually receives
Every scan and every opt-in is logged. You get a live dashboard during the campaign and a structured export after it: scan counts, geolocation, device, session duration, completion rate, and consented records, each tied to a specific unit, date, and location. That is the difference between reporting impressions and reporting outcomes — and it is why these budgets survive procurement review.

Program tiers
Hub markets: Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Nashville, Chicago. Travel outside hub markets quoted separately, typically $500–$2,000 domestic. Garment upgrades, added print colors, extended hosting, and rush builds priced at contract.
The six-week lead time isn't padding. It's the AR build, 3D asset QA, a printed test panel, and field-testing the trigger under real light and motion before production. Rush builds compress the schedule, not the testing.
